Don Meyler Inspections is the largest dedicated provider of residential and commercial windstorm insurance mitigation inspections in the state of Florida, and a leader in 4-Point Inspections of older homes.  When the Florida state government instituted its My Safe Florida Home program to fund windstorm inspections for low- and middle-income families, it required authorized windstorm inspection companies like DMI to follow new electronic communication protocols for receiving inspection assignments and submitting inspection results.

DMI brought in J2 to design and build a simple database-driven utility, along with an automated import/export mechanism, to facilitate bi-directional communication of assignments and inspection results between DMI and the state.  Once the basic system was in place, J2 developed it into a full-featured back-office workflow and appointment scheduling application.  J2 then built a desktop application for inspectors in the field to collect and submit inspection data, including photos, which are automatically collated into well-formatted PDF documents on the DMI server.  The system also allows DMI staff, customers, and insurance auditors to log into a secure web site to view inspection results.  Per state law, customers who pass inspection are rewarded with significant discounts on their homeowners' insurance.

In addition to the inspection workflow system, J2 designed and built an online loyalty program that rewards insurance agents who make frequent use of DMI's inspection services.  The system is integrated with the online catalogs and shopping carts of third-party vendors who provide rewards for the program.  It tracks and reconciles not only the reward points and claims of its users, but also the financial transactions and account balance between DMI and its vendors.

Various software components were built using a combination of C#.NET, Java, and Ruby on Rails running against a SQLServer database.
