J2's long-standing partnership with LifePoint dates back to 2005, when LifePoint brought us in to augment their software development team on an ongoing basis. One of our first projects was a fundamental re-architecture of the LifePoint.WEB application that made the system more scalable, maintainable, and customizable, and greatly reduced LifePoint’s implementation time for new clients. Over the years, J2 has designed and developed dozens of major enhancements to LifePoint.WEB, including optimized patient search capabilities, streamlined test ordering functions, cumulative result reporting and graphing features, system auditing utilities, support for radiology orders and results, and a rich set of lab administrator tools.
J2 has also played a significant role in the development of the LifePoint.InfoHub interface engine, which connects LifePoint.WEB to third-party software such as laboratory information systems, EMRs, hospital billing systems, and master patient index databases. When LifePoint made the strategic decision to convert its legacy interface code to Ensemble, J2 implemented the initial Ensemble production that would become the template for all LifePoint clients. Again, our work resulted in a dramatic reduction in the effort required to bring each new customer to go-live.
Within the development team itself, J2 has designed and implemented several key productivity tools at LifePoint, such as a source control and code promotion framework, integration of the company’s trouble ticketing system with developers’ desktop IDEs, and online utilities to centrally manage custom feature enhancements across dozens of client implementations.
LifePoint continues to rely on J2 to execute some of its most ambitious software development initiatives, such as Google Health integration and the development of a common code base to support both traditional browsers and mobile devices. And on many occasions, LifePoint has trusted J2 to build customized application extensions for clients who need specialized functionality and interfaces tailored to their specific needs.
